Duramobi’s portable W150 sends music and coaching cues through pool water, with built-in storage, Bluetooth and a setup that needs no permanent hardware.

Poolside speakers lose their audience as soon as swimmers submerge. Duramobi’s Pool Audio System W150 takes a different approach: its submerged transducer vibrates the water, sending sound through the pool rather than across its surface. The result could be useful for swim coaching and group activities, as well as for anyone who wants music in the water without wearing headphones.
The portable unit hangs over a pool’s edge on an adjustable pole. Its controls remain above the waterline while a brushed aluminum transducer sits underwater. Duramobi says the system stores up to 1,000 songs, runs for more than 12 hours per charge and includes a Live Voice Remote for speaking to swimmers.

Sound designed to travel through water
Water carries sound differently from air. Duramobi’s design uses that property by transmitting vibrations directly into the pool, where swimmers can hear the audio without earbuds. The company estimates that one W150 covers an area of about 20 by 20 feet (6 by 6 meters), roughly the size of a spa or a section of a backyard pool.
The transducer is mounted on a telescoping pole that extends from 13.4 to 35.4 inches (340 to 900mm). That range lets users adjust its position as the pool’s water level changes. The main controls sit on the dry portion of the unit, where they can be reached from the pool edge.
For larger spaces, Duramobi recommends using multiple speakers. Its guidance calls for two units in a 39-by-20-foot backyard pool and four to six in a resort pool measuring 82 by 69 feet. The systems can synchronize playback, so swimmers across the pool hear the same audio.
Portable construction and playback options
The above-water body has a triangular black shell, carry handle, digital display, top-mounted buttons and a vertical light strip. Blue, orange and yellow accents are available. Duramobi describes the shell as sealed composite construction and gives it an IP68 rating, with submersion protection listed to about 4.9 feet (1.5 meters). The company also says the materials resist chlorine, salt and corrosion.
At about 4.9 pounds (2,240g), the W150 is designed to be carried to and from the pool. Duramobi rates battery life at more than 12 hours, though volume and operating mode affect runtime. Charging uses a magnetic attachment rather than an exposed port, and the company estimates a full charge takes about 90 minutes.
Users can play tracks stored on the device or connect a phone or other compatible device over Bluetooth 5.3. Duramobi lists support for Android, iOS and Windows. Four equalizer presets—Home, Spa, Train and Resort—provide different sound settings for varied pool uses.
Voice cues for swimmers and coaches
The included Live Voice Remote lets a coach speak through the system to swimmers in the water. It also controls playback, volume and equalizer settings, reducing the need to return to the speaker between sets. Paired with music or pacing tracks, spoken instructions can reach a group at once without requiring individual headsets.
That feature makes the W150 relevant to swim teams, synchronized swimming, aqua fitness classes and swim schools. Hotels and resorts could also use it to add audio without installing permanent pool equipment. The portable design may suit shared facilities where a system needs to be set up for a session and removed afterward.
Underwater music has a history beyond consumer audio. French composer Michel Redolfi staged concerts in the early 1980s for listeners with their ears submerged in pools and ocean coves. The W150 brings the idea into a more everyday setting, with stored tracks and Bluetooth playback in place of a concert’s specially composed music.
Setup without permanent installation
Using the W150 involves extending the pole, choosing Bluetooth or a stored playlist, selecting an equalizer preset and lowering the transducer into the pool. It requires no drilling or fixed wiring, so the system can be moved between locations and packed away after use. That flexibility is particularly relevant for temporary classes, shared pools and properties where permanent changes are impractical.
Duramobi is offering the W150 through a Kickstarter campaign. The listed price is $229, reduced from $399.
