Insta360 Ace Pro 3 Leak Points to Front Preview Screen and Larger Battery

Leaked images suggest the Ace Pro 3 could add a front-facing preview and a 25% larger battery, though its camera specs and real-world gains remain unverified.

Insta360 Ace Pro 3 Leak Points to Front Preview Screen and Larger Battery

A front screen aimed at a familiar filming problem

The most useful rumored change to Insta360’s Ace Pro 3 may be a small screen on the front. Leaked images appear to show it displaying a live scene, which could let people check their framing while recording themselves without swinging out the rear display. That’s a practical fix for a familiar bit of camera friction: a rear screen can be awkward to see when the camera is pointed back at its user. A front preview could make it easier to catch a badly placed face or a distracting background before recording, though the leak doesn’t show how the feature would work in use.

The images were shared by Igor Bogdanov, who posts as @Quadro_News, and covered by The Gadgeteer on November 4. They aren’t an official Insta360 reveal, so the features shown remain unconfirmed. The Ace Pro 2 has a 2.5-inch flip touchscreen on the back and a front display for status information; the leak suggests its successor may give that front screen a more active role. That distinction matters: a display that shows battery or recording status serves a different purpose from one that can preview the shot.

Design details, with room for doubt

Designer: Insta360. The label identifies the brand associated with the camera design, but it doesn’t establish that these images came from the company or depict a finalized product. That uncertainty is worth keeping in view when reading the renders as evidence.

The design gives the lens a bold octagonal surround, marked with Leica branding and a red outline. The front screen sits beside it, with an Ace Pro 3 badge below. Leaked images show black and white versions, a simple color choice that changes how the camera’s front reads: the white model makes the separate parts easier to distinguish, while the black finish presents a more unified face. The red ring still draws the eye to the lens. Styling can make a device look distinctive in a render, but it says little about how comfortable the camera will be to hold or operate.

Here’s the thing: a front display matters only if it can help with framing. The images show a rear screen and what appears to be a hinge, but they don’t confirm whether the front and rear displays can show a live preview at the same time. If the front screen does provide a clear view of the shot, it could make quick self-recording simpler, especially when there’s no one behind the camera to check the composition. The rear display could then remain the main place to review footage and change settings. A useful idea, provided the screen is large and clear enough to do its job.

A bigger battery, but no runtime evidence

A leaked regulatory-screen image lists a 2,250mAh battery, up from the 1,800mAh capacity Insta360 specifies for the Ace Pro 2. If that figure carries through to a retail model, it would be a 25 percent increase in capacity. The comparison is straightforward; the practical benefit isn’t. Battery capacity alone can’t show how much extra recording time the camera will deliver, because runtime also depends on how the camera is used and what features are active. The leak includes no endurance results, and a front preview screen could also draw power.

What matters in practice is how much usable footage the camera can capture between charges with common settings. A bigger battery could mean fewer pauses to swap batteries, but only a real-world test can establish whether that’s the case. If you’re working in this space, the useful comparison will be recording time under similar conditions, not the battery figure in isolation. Fewer charging interruptions. That’s the promise, not yet a demonstrated result.

Sensor claims need sample footage

The more speculative claim is a 1-inch, 50-megapixel sensor, potentially replacing the Ace Pro 2’s 1/1.3-inch sensor. The leaked images can’t verify what’s behind the lens. The current camera already captures 50-megapixel photos and records 8K video at 30 frames per second, so my read is that improvements in evening footage and difficult lighting would matter more than another resolution figure. A larger sensor could be relevant to image quality, but specifications don’t show how the finished camera handles exposure, movement, or detail in challenging scenes. Sample footage will be needed to judge any change.

There are reasons to treat the render cautiously. RedShark also pointed to uneven lettering as a possible sign that the image may not be authentic. An FCC authorization dated September 29, 2026, does name the Insta360 Ace Pro 3, but that record doesn’t verify these images or the rumored camera specifications. A product name appearing in an authorization adds context; it doesn’t confirm that every design detail circulating online is accurate.

What the leak could mean for buyers

Insta360 hasn’t announced a price or release date. For now, the leak’s appeal rests on two straightforward possibilities: a front screen that makes self-recording easier and a battery with more capacity. This is more significant than it looks if the screen genuinely reduces the small setup adjustments that interrupt filming. And yet, the available images leave basic questions unanswered: whether the preview is live, how the displays work together, and how much longer the camera lasts between charges.

The sensor rumor may sound more dramatic, but resolution alone won’t settle whether the Ace Pro 3 takes better footage than its predecessor. What this means for you is that the practical case for an upgrade will depend on examples from the finished camera and on how its screen and battery perform during ordinary recording. If those features reach the retail model, their value will come down to how well they reduce setup and charging interruptions during actual use.
